In today’s blog newsletter, I write about the transformation of the “Unapproachable.” The power of withdrawal leads a person into a self-imposed isolation that makes it impossible to experience and live true intimacy with others.

COURAGE FOR TRUE FREEDOM

For the “Unapproachable,” the need to be free is the highest priority — yet this freedom cannot be achieved through the mechanism of withdrawal.

Such individuals attempt to avoid the attacks of others by becoming distant and inaccessible. Often, they have grown up under the influence of an intimidator or a constant interrogator.

THE NEW PATH

Once they free themselves from the perceived necessity of having to be outsiders, the “Unapproachable” often succeed in reconnecting with their intuition and integrating wisdom and creativity into their life’s work.

They frequently become priests, enter healing professions, or pursue artistic paths. Everything that liberates the mind and spirit is close to their heart.

However, if the wall of isolation and the tendency to place themselves “above others” is not dismantled, life itself will signal the need for change through profound and sometimes disruptive experiences.

FROM LIFE

A former priest, who had quite literally hidden behind his pulpit, underwent a fundamental transformation when he changed careers and became a university lecturer.

Although at first he still saw himself primarily as a preacher — thereby maintaining a strong separation between himself and his congregation — several devastating criticisms from members of the community deeply shocked him. They humanised him to such an extent that he could no longer uphold his rigid belief systems, which had kept him isolated from other people.

BEING HUMAN LIKE EVERYONE ELSE

The pressure and conflict coming from the outside, which act upon the “Unapproachable,” are in truth the greatest form of assistance in helping them come out of themselves.

The endless game of “hiding” is meant to dissolve, so that the wall of isolation and self-elevation above others can collapse. Without pressure, there would be no necessity to tear down these walls.

LEARNING TO RELAX

Some people step out of their walled prison for the very first time by simply sitting on the wall and catching a glimpse of what is waiting for them outside. Slow steps can also lead to success.

When I allow myself to be seen, that very act of “being seen” can open a new path — one that leads us to new shores.

WIND OF CHANGE

Yet after the transformation of the “Unapproachable,” what emerges is the Free Thinker.

This Free Thinker makes it possible to view society from a perspective outside of it — placing it into a new context. These are the individuals capable of questioning existing structures. In doing so, they bring fresh, new air into our lives.

BEING SMILED AT

Because of their ability to introduce something new into the lives of others,

FREE THINKERS

are often met with ridicule. They must pass through this experience of shame and not allow themselves to be discouraged from acting in the world.

After a while, the Free Thinker comes to realise that without the criticism and amusement of society, they would not hold a distinctive place within it. Everything goes hand in hand.

In my sessions, participants learn to recognise their inner walls and to take responsibility for dismantling them — allowing themselves to experience and embrace a sense of shared safety and belonging.

Thank you very much for your interest in my work.

With warm regards,

Marc Altmann
